The Design Process
Working with a designer can feel daunting, which is why I have broken the process into a simple, step-by-step format.
At every stage there are clear checks and opportunities for your input, so the journey is transparent and in your control.
Kick Off.
It all begins with a free consultation call.
We will talk through your space, your aspirations, and how I can help.
From this I will prepare a clear fee proposal that breaks down the cost of each design phase, my scope of work, and exactly what you will receive.
Concept Design.
Once appointed, I will start your concept design package.
This begins with a careful analysis of your garden to make sure the design works with how you want to use the space and makes the most of its microclimates, sun traps and sheltered spots.
The concept design shows the overall layout and is supported by mood boards and palettes of plants and materials.
I will always present my proposals to you, either online or in person, and you will have the opportunity to review and comment before signing off to move forward.
Detailed Design.
This is where ideas become buildable.
I will translate the concept into a detailed package that allows a contractor to price and construct the garden.
This includes full specifications of materials and features, detailed drawings of how everything fits together, and a complete planting plan.
You will again receive a presentation and the chance to review and comment before sign off.
Construction Process.
As part of the process, I can approach trusted local contractors for quotes.
Once you have chosen a contractor, we can agree on the level of my involvement during construction.
This might mean me checking in during the build to make sure the garden is being delivered as designed, setting out planting or providing full support throughout the construction.
